breakable shamrocks

You’ve seen breakable hearts, but have you seen breakable shamrocks? These mini shamrocks would be the perfect treat for your St. Patty’s Day leprechaun traps. I’ve been making breakable hearts and even breakable Hello Kitty’s for years. But I couldn’t resist when I saw these cute mini shamrock molds!

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

Lucky Charms just marshmallows

I have been on the hunt for these Lucky Charms just marshmallows for years! But I’ve only come across the large marshmallows not the small dehydrated ones that actually come in the cereal. So when I saw these St. Patrick’s Day special edition marshmallows, I couldn’t wait to add them to my cart!

How to make breakable shamrocks:

STEP ONE:

Melt your candy wafers in a microwave safe bowl for 30 seconds, stir and melt again in 15 second increments. Meltable candies burn easily so make sure you keep a close eye on it. Spoon into your mold and use a food-safe brush to paint the chocolate/candy to cover all sides.

STEP TWO:

Put your mold in refrigerator for five minutes to speed up hardening process.

STEP THREE:

Remove shamrocks from mold and fill half of them with your favorite candies/sprinkles/Lucky Charm marshmallows.

STEP FOUR:

Heat a small skillet pan on low. Take the empty other half of your shamrocks and gently place them one at a time into the pan to melt them down a bit. Immediately place the melted one on top of the filled shamrocks so they are glued together.

STEP FIVE:

This is totally optional but I added a little icing on top and sprinkles for decoration.
